The need to train, educate and raise public awareness on issues of environmental degradation and challenges confronting sustainable development was recognized by the Ministry of Environment Conservation and Disaster Management (MECDM) as an important priority area under the NECDAP (2008-12) Strategic Plan of the Ministry.
In response to these concerns, the School of Natural Resources in consultation with the MECDM, NGOs, Stakeholders and other partners designed the certificate in environmental studies. The course was approved and taught for the first time in second semester of 2010. It is a two (2) years course covering four (4) semesters on full time study.
