This unit introduces students to the fundamentals of public economics and public financial management concepts, theories and practices. It provides students with the public economics & financial management knowledge and skills needed in today management of public assets and extending to the private sector. The unit covers a wide range of areas among them, using public funds, goods, income, expenditures, taxations, consumptions and wealth. It further provides a framework for public sector financial management in government as well as in private sector by providing invaluable information for decision makers. The decisions for allocating of funds for competing alternative government projects and activities need proper risk analysis and consultations to ensure that limited funds used creates maximum benefits for the majority of the people of the country. These knowledge and skills will be learnt in this course.
